So I recently got this wonderful collection from OPI a few days ago and I thought I’d actually post about it since it has been a while here on this blog! Aaanyways, this collection contains… More
So I guess Opi keeps spittin’ them collections out! Not that I mind….. At all! I really loved the Hello Kitty by Opi collection but let’s face it, there were a lot of pinks in it. Not that I don’t like pinks, in fact that’s one of my favorite color but I’m always craving variety when it comes to collections. Aaand I believe the New Orleans collection has a good variety when it comes to color range! You will be able to purchase all of these polishes by the end of February in Sweden, that I know, and they will retail for 155 Swedish kroner each.
Now, without further ado, let’s get into the swatches! ( Just for the record: I am totally saving the best for last! Oh, and all of the pictures are without top coat..! Now let’s get into the swatches!)
Humidi-Tea. This is a really pretty color and the formula isn’t all that bad for a semi sheer shimmery polish. But… as you can see the color doesn’t suit my skin color very nicely. It’s not as bad as it looks in this picture though, my camera was just acting up and couldn’t handle all the nude going on! Two coats.
Take a Right on Bourbon. A really nice champagne silver that leaves almost a chrome finish. This is two coats without top coat and I can only imagine the finish will be even smoother with a top coat. Nothing spectacular but a pretty silver.
Crawfishin’ For Compliments. This formula had me like wow on the first coat but somehow got streakier with the second which really bothered me. Love the color though and it sort of reminded me of a lighter version of Is Mai Tai Crooked?. This does not make my skin look as bad as in the picture btw… but some how my camera doesn’t like to make my fingers look nice with nudes or oranges. *sigh* Three coats.
Let Me Bayou A Drink. A bit more pink irl. Liked this one even though I had to use three coats. A very light shimmery pink. Nothing really special though.
Suzi Nails New Orleans. Holy bubbelgum pink! This is really bright and I love it! Actually don’t have any pinks like this in my collection. Lovely formula and it almost made it as a one coater but this is two coats.
I’m Sooo Swamped!. Looooove this grass green! Absolutely stunning color and formula. You could, if you wanted to get away with one coat with this bad boy but I decided to add some depth and make it two. Needless to say, I don’t have anything like this in my collection.
Show Us Your Tips!. Can you say fairy? Cuz that’s what I think of when I see this periwinkle blue packed with glitter. Good formula even though it is on the sheer side. I settled for two coats but you could easily do three thin to deepen the color even more.
Got Myself Into a Jam-balaya. Almost a dupe for Sorry I’m Fizzy Today except this one is a little bit lighter. I was a bit disappointed on the formula though cuz Like Crawfishin’ For Compliments the first coat had me really believe it was a definite two coater but I ended up having to give it three light handed coats.
I Manicure for Beads. Purple madness right here! I own a lot of purples but nothing like this. The formula could easily be a one coater but for the purpose of swatching I made it two. This is such a beautiful shade and I’m not just saying that because I love purple… Like a lot!
She’s a Bad Muffaletta. Welcome to heaven for reds! I absolutely adore this shade! Like, it’s red but on the pink side with a blue undertone… and I LOVE it! One of my favorites and once again a one coater but to deepen the color I added a second coat.
Spare Me a French Quarter. Speechless. I just died and went to another heaven: The berry toned heaven. Also one of my favorites! It’s like a darker version of The Berry Thought Of You and the formula is amaze balls! This is two coats even though this also is a one coater.
Rich Girls & Po-Boys. Like I was saying, I was saving the best for last! I am not the type of girl who grabs for the blue polishes first hand and if you look into my polish stash you would see that. But OMG how I love this color! This color is everything, from formula to application. I used two coats but it is definitely a one coater! Love it! Oh, and do I have to mention this is my favorite out of the entire collection?
So, there you have it! Hopefully this was helpful to anyone thinking of grabbing polishes from this collection, cuz in my opinion you don’t need the entire one. All in all I really like this collection, aside from a few polishes, and I can’t wait to play around with it some more. Nails art pics will be upp on my Instagram so be sure to check that out!
Be prepared to say hello to Hello Kitty in the beginning of next year! Opi teamed up with the Japanese muse to create the cutest collection yet. It contains 12 shades, all inspired by her. So, without any further ado, let’s get into the swatches! Side note: None of the swatches have top coat.
Saving the pinks for later! This is My Twin Mimmy, a beautiful yellow shade that is sort of a mixture between Need Sunglasses and I Just Can’t Cope-acabana. Not a huge fan of the application and it took three coats to get to an even finish but the color is stunning!
My Pal Joey. I LOOOOOVE this blue! I don’t have anything like this in my stash and it was about time I did! Gorgeous color and lovely formula. Two coats for full opacity and even finish.
5 Apples Tall. A beautiful red with some pink/coral undertones. I really like this shade and I love a different kind of red! Absolutely amazing formula, a bit thin but really pigmented, and almost opaque in one coat although I used two coats so the tip of my nails wouldn’t show.
Spoken From the Heart. A stunning coral/redish pink! The formula is very similar to 5 Apples Tall which I really like cuz I prefer the thin polishes to the more thicker ones as I find it easier to get a smooth finish. This is two coats and I really have nothing else to say about this one except: You need this in your collection!
Never Have Too Many Friends. Black. yes it’s a black polish. Nothing too exciting but it’s a good black polish with a nice formula. This is two coats.
Kitty White. Hmm… These kinds of sheer pearlized polishes are not really my cup of tea. I wish I had tried this on top of another polish before I did this blog post cuz I’m sure it will make an interesting topper. But on it’s own I’m not a huge fan and maybe it’s because I stopped at two coats and it would look much prettier with three or four? I kinda wished Opi had come out with a creme white instead since my Alpine Snow is running low.
Small Plus Cute. Aaahmazing color! I’m in love with this super cute powder pink! The formula is a bit tricky and it took me three kinda thick coats to get rid of (not completely though) the streaks which I find really annoying. But the color makes up for it!
Charmmy & Sugar. Did not think I was going to like this at first but when I applied it on my nails I quickly changed my mind. Stunning pink shimmer with a ton of purple, turquoise and silver glitters. With top coat it almost looks like a foil on the nail. Total opacity and even finish in two coats.
Look at My Bow. A classic bubblegum pink. The formula is neither super good nor bad but somewhere in between. It is a creme but not on the super thick side so it applied fine. This is two coats.
Let’s Be Friends. If this color wasn’t so damn cute, almost white but still pink, I would have thrown it away because of the formula. Gaahh.. I hate when a polish is soooo streaky that even three coats can’t fix it. Plus the formula is so thick that you don’t want to apply a fourth layer. Well well… I still love the color and will probably use it a lot.
Starry Eyed For Dear Daniel. Love this glitter packed purple/pink polish and I could wear it with every mani in the future. I won’t though, but if it turnes out I have to, I won’t mind. Great formula and super opaque in two coats.
Super Cute in Pink. Even though my picture is showing kinda pink I would say it’s more of a purple than a pink irl to me. Still super pretty though and fully opaque in two coats.
Summary: Cute, cute, cuuuuute! I love this collection and I feel like I will get a lot of wear with every polish! I have already made some designs using many of them which I will be posting on Instagram in the near future. Favorite: Spoken From the Heart (Would have been Small Plus Cute if not for the formula).
I believe the collection is already on sale in some countries but Sweden will have to wait until the beginning/middle of January. They will retail for 155 swedish kr per bottle.
Ok, so the generous YOLO-cosmetics (website is under construction but you can find them on Facebook and Instagram) sent me 12 (13 if you count the black one) of their super pretty polishes and two top coats, one matte and one glossy to try out. And I only have one word for these polishes and that’s LOVE! The formulas of almost every single one is perfect and the colors are super pretty.. And they water marble!! What more could you ask for? But enough talking, lets get in to the swatches shall we? First up we have shade no 142 which is a neon orange crelly polish: So I’m well aware that it almost looks red in this picture but in real life it’s a super bright orange. This is actually a one coater and in the picture I also have top coat on because it dried semi matte. The stamping was made with shade no 156 which is a black polish, I did not swatch that one but it stamps perfectly! (bow is from Simply Spoiled Beauty) Next up we have shade no 158 which is a pastel pinkish coral creme polish: This is probably my favorite out of all the shades they sent me. It applies a bit tricky though, but with three thin coats you have a smooth perfect shiny nail, no top coat! I also stamped it over shade 155, metallic gold polish swatched further down, and it stamped really good for being a semi sheer polish. Up next is shade no 134 which is a super pretty purple creme polish: I loooove this color! This is the perfect kind of berry/grape purple and it applies like a boss! Almost a one coater but I used two for a flawless coverage, no top coat. It did not water marble as good as some of the other polishes I tried but I managed to get this clean (minus the air bubbles) look with just two drops of the polish. For the water marble I also used shade no 153 which is swatched further down. Next up, shade no 155, a metallic gold polish: This polish is one of the best metallic/glitter/shimmer polishes I have ever tried! Could easily be a one coater but I choose to do two just because I didn’t use a top coat. Also stamps super pretty, here over shade no 158, as you can see. Love it! Next up is shade no 153, a BEAUTIFUL bright teal/turquoise creme polish:
Ok, so I might have spoken to soon before… This has to be my favorite of all the polishes they sent me! Would you look at that bright, amazing, turquoise, summery, almost neon color!! I am in LOVE! Nothing to say about application because it’s like perfection! This is two coats and no top coat. The water marble was created with shade no 138 (swatches further down) and no 156 (black).
Up next! Shade no 157, a grey beige creme polish:
Ok, so this shows up with a bit more green undertones on the picture than in reality. At first I did not think I would like this polish and to be honest I still don’t think the color suits my skin tone but I do like it when I pair it together with the silver shade no 160, swatched further down, as I did here! It stamps perfect. This is two coats with no top coat.
Next up we have some red polish! Shade no107, a deep blood red crelly polish:
This was probably the polish that bleed the most into my cuticles because the formula was so thin. Having said that it’a a super pretty red color and almost opaque in one coat. Here I do have two coats with no top coat. The gradient was created together with shades no 105 and 131, both swatched further down.
Time of another red! Shade no 105, a super bright classic red creme polish:
The perfect classic red polish! I love this one and the application is really good! This is two super thin coats and no top coat. The gradient was created together with shades no 131 and 107.
Up next is shade no 160, a metallic silver polish:
I love this silver!! It dries to a semi matte, almost satin look without any streaks, even without top coat! Yup, you heard me! Now, I’m not a fan of all silver on my nails but this also stamps peeeerfect and that’s how I’m gonna use this polish, for stamping and accent nails! In this pic I stamped over shade no 157, swatched further up, and I really like the color combo. On the hunt for a perfect metallic silver? Look no further!
Next we have shade no 138 which is a bright neon coral creme polish:
First of all, I’m sorry about this photo’s quality but it was the only way to capture this neon color. I would say this is a close match to China Glaze’s Flip Flop Fantasy only not AS neon but also not as patchy. I love it and it will be perfect for summer! The water marble was created with shade 153, swatched further up. This is three thin coats with top coat.
Second to last swatch. Shade no 137, a dark purple creme polish with lots of blue undertones:
NOT as blue as shown in this picture but for some reason the purple would not transfer on to camera… Now, I’m not a big fan of “blueish” polishes but I kinda like this one. But, lets take quick moment to appreciate the silver stamping…… How perfect is that? Aaaanyways, the application of this polish was flawless and I reached full coverage with two thin coats, no top coat.
Last but not least, shade no 131, a deep maroon creme polish:
I love this dark vampy color! Perfect application and opaque in almost one coat. This is however two thin coats and no top coat. The gradient was created together with shades no 105 and 107.
And that’s it! Soooo.. to summarize:
Almost all of the polishes had some tendency to creep dangerously close to the cuticle and bleed, because of the thin formula. However, that’s easy to avoid by smaller amount of polish on the brush!
Drying time I would say was relatively fast and most of them dried super shiny!
Almost all of the polishes could be a one coater.. Like, the opacity was mind blowing even for the more crelly ones, so that was super impressive!
I really like these polishes and will be using them a whole lot more in the future! And I’m also looking forward to try some, or all, of their 20 new shades coming soon!
For this weeks #veckansopi the theme was to focus on the marvelous deep dark purple polish that is called Lincoln Park After Dark!
